1969 Camaro Pace Car #1

The number one 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Pace Car was built to Pace the Indianapolis 500 race in 1969. The number one car along with the number two car were built by Chevrolet engineering. To handle the high speed pace duties of the race, every part of this car that moved was checked and double-checked and heat-treated and then examined to be certain there would be no failures in front of the huge television and at the track audience. The number one pace car was restored for Vernon Smith in Newfoundland Canada and is now owned by Tim Hill also of Canada. It was owned for many years by Larry Christensen of Arvada Colorado.
